Ph.D. programmes
The following national level institutions are providing research facilities leading to Ph.D. It is time to apply for these Ph.D. programmes. More details can be obtained from the web sites of the institutes concerned.
Immunology
The National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi – 110 067, has invited applications for admission to its Ph.D. programmes in the areas of genetics and cell signalling; immunity and infection; molecular and cellular biology; reproduction and development; and structural and computational biology.
M.Sc. holders in any branch of science or M.Tech., MBBS, M.V.Sc. or M.Pharm. holders who have passed all major examination from 10 +2 onwards with at least 60 per cent marks are eligible to apply. Those who are likely to complete these courses this year can also apply. Selection is based on a written test to be held on February 15 at Delhi, Bangalore, Pune and Kolkata.

Astrophysics
The Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore – 560 034 has invited applications from bright and motivated students with outstanding academic merit for admission to its Ph.D. programme; integrated Ph.D. programme in physics and astrophysics; and integrated M.Tech.-Ph.D. (tech) programme in astronomical instrumentation.
For more details and the application form, visit www.iiap.res.in. Applications should be submitted online on or before November 20, 2008. The entrance test will be held on December 13 at various centres across the country.
Nehru Centre
Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Jakkur P.O., Bangalore – 560 064 has invited applications for admission to Ph.D. and M.S. engineering (by research) and M.S. (by research). More details can be obtained from the web site www.jncasr.ac.in/admit. Last date for receipt of completed application forms is November 28, 2008.
