Three-day national workshop on pain management

Centre for Health Psychology, and School of Medical Sciences, University of Hyderabad are jointly organising a three-day national work shop on “Trauma and Pain Management” at University of Hyderabad, from August 2 to 4, 2008 with an objective to bring multi disciplinary approaches to pain and trauma management.

The workshop aims to evolve a module that enables a team work of professionals from the field of medicine psychology and social work so as to give a holistic approach to management of trauma and pain. The workshop will have participants from the field of medicine, psychology, psychiatry, neurology, cardiology, music therapy, oncology, psycho oncology, anaesthesiology and so on. Experts from different States are participating. The areas under which the sessions include – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – its management, Pain Management and Emergency Medicine & Psychology. Interested professionals from the field of medicine/research students from the disciplines of Psychology/Social Work are invited to register as participants in the workshop. PG Diploma

Kasturba Gandhi Degree and PG College for Women, Secunderabad affiliated to Osmania University is inviting applications for Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics which is being introduced from the current academic year. The one-year course has 24 seats and the selection of candidates will be based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination (B.Sc).

Candidates who have studied Chemistry, Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics/Applied Nutrition and Public Health/Food Science and Management/Nutrition and Food Technology and Botany/Zoology/Other life science subjects at the degree level are eligible for the course. Carnegie Mellon scholarships

The US-based Carnegie Mellon University is offering scholarships for students with proven track records to pursue the master courses at its Australian campus for 2009 intake. The students who opt for one-year MS programmes in IT, and public policy and management would be offered part and full scholarships ranging from Rs. 10 to 28 lakh. “Admission criteria are quite stringent and only students with excellent marks will be considered for admission followed by scholarships,” stated Campus Abroad, an educational consultancy for the university.
