Recognition for Sona College of Technology

The Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has appreciated the Sona Special Power Electronics and Electric Drives (Sona SPEED) of Sona College of Technology, Salem, for the successful development of a Quadruplex Brushless DC (BLDC) Torque Motor for the Engine Gimbal Control.
College Chairman C. Valliappa, Secretary A. Dhirajlal and Professor Kannan received the appreciation letter from VSSC Director (Projects) S. Ramakrishnan in Thiruvananthapuram recently.
The college has crossed two major milestones successfully viz., the preliminary design completion in November 2006 and proto model realisation and delivery to VSSC in November 2007, meeting the overall specifications, Mr. Ramakrishnan said in his appreciation letter to the college.
The project sets a good example of academia-industry interaction and the VSSC hopes to continue similar collaborative efforts with the institution, he said. The college signed a memorandum of understanding with the VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram, in February 2006 for the design and development of Quadruplex Brushless DC (BLDC) Torque Motor.
