While former team-mate Kevin Durant congratulated newly crowned MVP Russell Westbrook on his YouTube channel, Hall of Fame playmaker Michael Jordan congratulated Westbrook and egged him on, reminding that he himself had won the MVP award first, three years before winning the NBA title.

Young German side face Mexican challenge in Confederations Cup

The Fisht Stadium in Sochi will host the second Confederations Cup semi-final between Germany and Mexico.

Even though Germany lack most of the stars that won the World Cup in 2014, the young guns have shown that they cannot be taken lightly either. Mexico came second in their group behind Portugal, coming from behind in all three of their group games – winning two games and finishing level in the other.

Ledecky wins 800 m at US trials

Five-time Olympic champion Katie Ledecky clocked the fastest time of the year – 8 minutes 11.50 seconds – to capture the crown in the 800 m freestyle event at the US trials. The win allowed her to punch her ticket for the World Championships next month, to be held in Budapest, Hungary.
