Toyota’s Lexus debuts in India

Lexus is entering the Indian market with an aim to tap the growing number of luxury customers

Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus made its debut in India on Friday with the introduction of three models - RX 450h, ES 300h, and LX 450d. While the RX 450h is priced at more than ₹1.07 crore, the ES 300h is priced at more than ₹55.27 lakh.

The price for LX 450d will be announced at a later date.

The company will also be bringing out sports version of the RX 450h which will be priced at ₹1.09 crore.

The company also unveiled the all new Lexus LS which will be made available in 2018.

“How India experiences luxury is evolving with its affluence,” Lexus India Senior Vice President Akitoshi Takemura said.

“Lexus will be providing the Indian consumer with an amazing experience through our vehicles and service.

“We are excited about what we can bring to the luxury market in India, where we see opportunities mapped to the remarkable growth the country is experiencing,” Mr. Takemura said.

The models will be available at guest experience centers located in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bangalore.

In addition, after sales service facilities will also be available in Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi.

Mr. Takemura said the company will see the response before before taking a call on manufacturing locally in India.
