Top-level changes at HUL

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) on Friday said that Hemant Bakshi, Executive Director of Sales and Customer Development, has been appointed Executive Director-Home & Personal Care. Mr. Bakshi succeeds Gopal Vittal, Executive Director-Home & Personal Care, HUL, who is leaving HUL to pursue an external opportunity.

The company also announced that Manish Tiwary, Vice-President-Modern Trade, has been appointed Executive Director-Sales and Customer Development, HUL. With this appointment, he joins the Management Committee, HUL's top executive team led by Nitin Paranjpe, Managing Director and CEO, HUL.

According to Mr. Paranjpe, “Mr. Gopal has contributed significantly to building the marketing leadership capability of HUL. I would like to thank Mr. Gopal for his invaluable contribution in his 21 years of service with HUL.”

Hemant Bakshi (47) joined the company in June 1989 and has worked in various sales and marketing assignments across Personal Products and Home Care categories. In May 2006, he was appointed Regional Category Vice-President for Skin, South Asia, Unilever, and was appointed Executive Director, Sales and Customer Development for HUL, on September 1, 2008.

Manish Tiwary (42), Vice-President-Modern Trade, joined the company in June 1995 and has worked in various sales, marketing and general management assignments across HUL. Prior to the present assignment, Mr. Manish was the General Manager, Sales and Customer Development, HUL, in North India. He has been involved with the organised retailing business from the early stages and is an active member of various industry forums in this area. Mr. Bakshi has led the transformation of the customer development function and has further strengthened the distribution edge of HUL through a number of path-breaking initiatives. Mr. Manish has contributed significantly to developing the capability of HUL's Modern Trade team delivering record growth for the company through this channel,” said Mr. Paranjpe.
