Twentythree-year-old Sudarshan Venu, son of Venu Srinivasan, has joined the board of TVS Motor Company as its additional director.

The board of the company met on Friday and gave its nod for Mr. Sudarshan’s appointment.

He will function in the rank of a whole time-director. This, sources said, meant he would play a much bigger role in the company. Already, he has been involved in product development and roll-out.

Mr. Sudarshan, in the meanwhile, has also been appointed Director of TVS Credit Service Ltd.

He joined TVS Motor Company as Vice-President on December 1, 2011. Even before that, he was inducted into the board of Sundaram Clayton, the holding company of TVS Motor Company, as an additional director in September 2011.

Coming events cast their shadows before them, it is often said. A broad hint as to his increased role in the company was available on a Friday morning in September last year. When TVS Motor launched Phoenix 125, it was Mr. Sudarshan who rode the new motorcycle on to the dais, and not his father Mr. Venu Srinivasan, who did the honour for the company umpteen times in the past.
