Rise in brand spend brings down TVS Motor profit

TVS Motor Company has reported a 4.24 per cent rise in revenue at Rs. 1,820 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2012, against Rs. 1,746 crore in the quarter ended June 2011.

Total sales remained flat at 5.47 lakh units. Motorcycles registered sales of 2.06 lakh units against 2.24 lakh units registered in the previous comparable period. Scooter sales of were 1.20 lakh units against 1.19 lakh units.

The profit after tax was lower at Rs. 51 crore against Rs. 59 crore due to significant increase in brand investments across key brands.
