RCoM introduces 1 paise per SMS plan

Reliance Communications on Friday introduced 1 paise per SMS plan taking the tariff war to the data front from voice calls.

The Anil Ambani group company on Friday launched a plan under which 1 paise will be charged per SMS and at a monthly rental of Rs. 11, Reliance Communications President Mahesh Prasad, said here.

Telecom Minister A. Raja recently had said telcos need to bring down SMS rates which are currently at 50-60 paise per SMS.

Other operators are likely to follow suit.

Reliance Communications stocks were down 1.54 per cent at 166.30 in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
