The Nokia India management has expressed optimism that the India facility could be transferred to Microsoft by the first quarter of 2014 in accordance with the global deal between the two companies.
With the Delhi High Court unfreezing the assets and clearing the decks for transfer of Nokia India’s assets to Microsoft, the management has sent an official communication to the employees expressing confidence that the integration of the Indian facility with Microsoft could possibly happen between January-March, 2014. While informing workmen of the developments in the wake of Thursday’s Delhi High Court order, the management also pointed to the certain ‘legal processes’ that were required to be cleared. Stating that it had already started initiating the necessary steps, the management also informed them that it would move the government to expedite the process.
Union sources were hopeful that there would be no further hurdle in the way of transferring the Sriperumbudur facility of Nokia to Microsoft. The onus was now on the management to honour the terms set by the Delhi High Court, and facilitate the transfer of the plant, they pointed out.
