Meghwal, Gangwar take over as MoS Finance

July 07, 2016 04:28 am | Updated 04:28 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The two new Ministers of State for Finance—Arjun Ram Meghwal and Santosh Kumar Gangwar—took charge of their duties on Wednesday. Their predecessor Jayant Sinha has been re-assigned and appointed as Minister of State for Civil Aviation.

“Despite the world economy slowing down, India still managed to grow at 7.6 per cent,” Mr. Meghwal told reporters at North Block.

“The Government’s priorities include speeding up the process of economic growth and making all out efforts to achieve the goal of development so that the poor and vulnerable sections of our society are benefited.”

GST Bill

“We are hopeful that GST Bill will be passed in the forthcoming Monsoon Session as most of the political parties are in its favour,” Mr. Gangwar said.

“The BJP is also constantly in touch with the Congress party on this issue.”

Mr. Meghwal, a retired IAS Officer from Rajasthan, was the chief whip of the BJP Parliamentary Party in the Lok Sabha and has been a member of various parliamentary committees. “The benefit of economic development must reach the last mile,” Mr. Meghwal added.
