Maruti Suzuki Motor Corp today rolled out its millionth baby, a dazzling red Swift from its plant here.

With this, the car maker has joined the elite club of Toyota, General Motors, Volkswagen, Ford, Honda, Renault, Hyundai, Suzuki and Nissan that have attained the feat of producing a million unit or more every year.

The accomplishment comes shortly after Maruti overtook the parent company Suzuki Motors in terms of sales.

On the occasion, the company also laid the foundation for expanding production to 2.5 lakh units at its Manesar plant at an investment of Rs 1700 crore.

Suzuki Motor Corp Chairman Osamu Suzuki was present at the occasion.
