U.S. dollar ends dearer against rupee

The U.S. dollar ended dearer against the rupee at Rs 46.90/91 per dollar and the pound sterling also finished higher at Rs 71.17/19 per pound at the close of the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) Market here Tuesday.

Early trade

Weakness in Asian currencies saw the Indian rupee fall by 3 paise to 46.80 against the U.S. dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, but gains in domestic equities helped cap the losses.

The domestic currency has been losing ground to the U.S .dollar over the past three trading sessions.

The rupee had closed 1 paise lower at 46.77/78 a dollar in the previous session on Monday.
