Sensex surges 138 points

Stock indices surged on some companies announcing good results.

The S&P BSE Sensex surged by 137.75 points to 19367.59.

Automobile stocks led the rally as it gained 3.34 per cent followed by consumer durables (2.91 per cent), oil & gas (2.89 per cent), metal (2.81 per cent), realty (2.25 per cent) and PSUs (2.06 per cent).

On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), 50-share Nifty gained 43 points at 5742.30.
