The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark, Sensex slipped 165.94 points or 0.98 percent in the early trading session Wednesday following a lower opening.
Sensex opened at 16,802.39 points on Wednesday, 73.37 points lower from previous close of 16,875.76 points.
All of the sectors with the burse see losses due to anticipated further drop of Sensex by as much as 10 percent.
Metal, banking, realty and auto sectors lose 1.49 percent, 1.47 percent, 1.12 percent and 0.82 percent, respectively.
ICICI Bank, copper producer Sterlite Industries, Tata Motors and housing builder DLF dive 3.64 percent, 2.83 percent, 2.61 percent and 1.78 percent, after 26 minutes of trading.
