Sensex down 82 points in early trade

Extending losses for the second session, the BSE benchmark Sensex on Friday lost nearly 82 points in early trade as stocks of metal, realty, banking, FMCG and auto sectors fell on sustained selling by participants, tracking a weak trend in the Asian region.

The 30-share index, which has lost 48.73 points in the previous session, fell further by 81.67 points, or 0.42 per cent, to 19,437.82.

Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty declined by 33.55 points, or 0.57 per cent, to 5,887.85.

Meanwhile, in Asia, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index down by 1.15 per cent, while Japan’s Nikkei fell 1.94 per cent in early trade.

The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.53 per cent higher in the previous day’s trade.
