Sensex closes 68 points up

A benchmark index for an Indian equities market on Thursday nudged 68 points higher at close, while broader markets closed dull.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 18,892.43 points, closed at 19,047.30 points (provisional) — still 68.98 points or 0.36 percent down from its previous close at 18,978.32 points.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange too shut shop moderately higher at 5,710.65 points, up 19.6 points or 0.34 percent.

Broader markets ended flat with the BSE midcap index closing 0.19 percent down and the BSE smallcap index ending 0.08 percent lower.
