Rupee weakens by 6 paise against dollar in early trade

The rupee depreciated by six paise to 45.67 a dollar in early trade on Tuesday on continued capital outflows by foreign funds.

Dollar’s gains against other major currencies also weighed on the domestic currency, dealers said.

The rupee had ended 40 paise lower at 45.61/62 a dollar in the previous session after hitting a two-month low of 45.77.

Besides, the dollar buying by importers, mainly oil refiners, on hopes that the U.S. currency might improve further following fall in the Euro on lingering concerns over the debt problem in the euro-zone countries, they added.
