Rupee inches up 6 paise against U.S. dollar

January 24, 2011 10:14 am | Updated 10:14 am IST - Mumbai

The Indian rupee strengthened by 6 paise to Rs 45.56 per dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Monday, supported by gains posted by other Asian currencies against the greenback.

Forex dealers said dollar weakness in Asian markets and a higher opening in the domestic stock market helped the rupee’s rise.

The rupee had declined by 9 paise to Rs 45.62/63 per dollar in the previous session on Friday amid increased capital outflows and weakness in the domestic equity market.
