Rupee gains 10 paise against US dollar in early trade

May 31, 2011 10:12 am | Updated 10:12 am IST - Mumbai

The Indian rupee appreciated by 10 paise to Rs. 44.98 per dollar in opening trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Tueday, supported by dollar weakness against the euro and other Asian currencies and a higher opening in the stock market.

The rupee had strengthened by 8 paise to close at Rs. 45.08/09 against the US currency in Monday’s trade amid sustained dollar selling and renewed capital inflows.

Forex dealers said dollar weakness against the euro and other Asian currencies overseas and a better start in the stock market kept the rupee sentiment firm against the American dollar.
