The rupee on Friday fell 20 paise to 62.13 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on increased demand for the American currency from importers.

Forex dealers said a weak opening in the domestic equity market and dollar’s gains against other currencies overseas put pressure on the rupee.

The rupee had lost 12 paise to close at two-week low of 61.93 against the dollar on Thursday.
