Johnson to open facility in Chennai

Johnson Electric International AG, a subsidiary of Johnson Electric Holdings of the Johnson Electric Group, is opening its new manufacturing facility in Chennai on Thursday. Commercial production would commence from April.

The Hong Kong-headquartered Johnson Electric Group is the largest provider of motion systems and components for automotive, medical and industrial applications.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Jim Dick, Senior Vice-President, Strategic Marketing, said the plant, located at Ambattur Industrial Estate near here would manufacture motors for engine cooling fan modules and gear motors for window lift systems initially. To begin with it would import these two products and assemble them at the Chennai unit.
