Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India, a part of Tata Motors, has reported 49% volume growth for the calendar year 2017 owing to new product introductions, product offerings at competitive prices, and superior customer satisfaction. During the year, the company sold 3,954 units.

All models of JLR starting with the XE at ₹35.85 Lakh, followed by the XF, F-PACE, Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque, contributed to this performance, according to the company.

Surge in demand

“Demand also surged for the All-New Discovery, the top-of-the-line Range Rover Sport and the flagship of the Land Rover brand, the Range Rover,” the company added. “The increasing popularity of Jaguar Land Rover products is a great testimony to our focus on building a highly capable and customer-friendly sales and service infrastructure to support these aspirational brands,” said Rohit Suri, president & managing director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL).

“We intend to sustain this fabulous momentum in 2018 with the launch of some exciting new products, the new Range Rover Velar being the first off the blocks in January 2018,” he added.

Analysts tracking the sector said JLR had benefited as the luxury car segment had done well during the year.

“Overall, the luxury car segment is doing well and as a result, JLR has benefited,” an auto analyst working for a large consulting firm said, asking not to be named.

“Besides, JLR’s sales grew from a small base and so the rise looks so spectacular.”

Tata Motors shares on Thursday surged at stock exchanges, but closed with a loss of 0.81% at ₹429.70 on the BSE.
