The Chennai-based Janta Roadways, as part of its expansion and diversification scheme, is planning to invest Rs. 50-100 crore in the next two years, according to Rajinder Singh, Managing Director.
Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, he said the company would soon launch its new business venture Satellite Taxi here with an investment of Rs. 10 crore in the first year of operation. Around 50 vehicles would be put into service next week at the soft launch. The number of vehicles would be increased in due course.
Mr. Singh said this pay and use on call luxury taxi service would be backed by GPS (Global Positioning System).
All vehicles would have wheel chair for the comfort of physically challenged and the billing system would be completely transparent to benefit its customers. The Managing Director said the company had specialised in closed container carrier for carrying four small-sized cars or three medium-sized cars and all vehicles had in-built GPS-based tracking system.
The company would set up distribution terminals to provide support for auto manufacturers with global standard services within a year. Janta had been selected recently as an exclusive logistic partner by Volvo India to transport their cars. Toyota Kirloskar too shortlisted Janta for its small cars, Mr. Singh added.
The company has four branches — Bangalore, Pune, Chandigarh and Gurgaon. Another group company Coolcab offers packaged tour to Tirupati from Chennai and Bangalore.
