iGATE drops Patni from brand name

May 08, 2012 12:16 am | Updated July 11, 2016 02:50 pm IST - BANGALORE:

IT services company iGATE announced on Monday that it is removing the name Patni, which represented Patni Computer Systems Ltd. “I have always articulated that Patni, being a family name, is difficult to protect in several of our markets. This brand change is in line with our vision of ‘one company' that will follow the successful delisting offer process of Patni with the Indian stock exchanges,” iGATE CEO Phaneesh Murthy said in a statement.

iGATE acquired a majority stake in Patni in January 2011 and recently made a delisting offer to shareholders.
