HMIL to enter new export markets

Hyundai Motor India is planning to enter new export markets later this year, according to H. W. Park, Managing Director.

In his inaugural address at a function, after opening a new showroom, V3 Hyundai, in Adyar here on Monday, Mr. Park said the company was planning to enter 10 new export markets such as Russia, New Zealand and Vietnam later this year. He said the company recently crossed a milestone with a cumulative export of 10 lakh cars when it loaded its i20 hatchbacks to Australia from the Chennai Port. HMIL became the first company in India to achieve this feat in a record time of just over a decade.

The Managing Director said HMIL was also planning to introduce ‘Santa Fe' sports utility vehicle in the domestic market as a completely built unit (CBU) this year. He said the new dealership in Chennai was necessitated by the need to support major expansion plans which HMIL has for the southern region.

Arvind Saxena, Director Sales and Marketing, HMIL, said the new showroom was the fourth in Chennai and 19th in Tamil Nadu taking the total number of dealers in southern region to 71. HMIL was planning to strengthen its dealership network from 289 operational dealers to around 320 by 2010.

V3 Hyundai is represented by Muthu Palaniappan, L. Bapiraju and AV. Shanthakumar.

Mr. Palaniappan, Managing Director, V3 Hyundai, said a total of 27 bays were available for servicing Hyundai vehicles including a state-of-the-art paint shop.
