Grundfos sets up new unit

Grundfos Pumps India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Grundfos of Denmark, commenced its second phase of operations by setting up a new unit at its existing location in Thoraipakkam, Chennai.

The facility, inaugurated on Thursday, has sophisticated material handling equipment needed to handle pumps and components in the manufacture, assembly and storage operations. The facility has a test bed for testing large pumps used in massive infrastructure projects.

Carlo Prola, Senior Vice President, Grundfos group, said at a press conference that India was one of the most important overseas markets for Grundfos in the Asia-Pacific region. Since the establishment of its first facility in March 2005,

According to Ranganath N.K., Managing Director, Gundfos India, the need for expansion was due to the demand for energy efficient and reliable pumps.

The company was also planning to set up another facility near Sriperumbudur for which it had acquired 16 acres.
