Facebook is looking to grow verticals such as FMCG as well as retail and e-commerce in India, as it looks to boost advertisement growth in a market where rivals Google and Twitter already have a significant edge.
According to people with direct knowledge of the matter, the company is planning to hire heads for e-commerce, FMCG and retail, and also managers for agency partnerships and marketing communications.
The company’s sales team is also seeing a slow shift towards Mumbai from Hyderabad, where the company initially had most of its operations. For instance, Kirthiga Reddy, who is the de facto head of Facebook India, recently shifted base to Mumbai also.
“Ms. Kirthiga recently re-located to Mumbai to help focus on helping India’s top agencies and clients get more value on the Facebook platform. The team plays a key role in building and maintaining strategic relationships with top regional agencies and clients,” a Facebook spokesperson said.
According to the job descriptions, Facebook is looking to uncover new branded advertising opportunities within companies that fall under the e-commerce and FMCG verticals.
On the marketing side, the company is looking to set a strategy that will transform the way the brand is positioned in each market.
