German car-maker Volkswagen has launched its new vehicle, christened the New Beetle, here.

The vehicle is priced at Rs. 20.45-lakh ex-showroom Delhi.

“The Beetle is the first Volkswagen car people remember about, with its unique shape and reliability. We are excited to bring this iconic Beetle to India after its success across the world for decades,” Volkswagen’s Passenger Cars Member of Board and Director Neeraj Garg told reporters here.

The car would be imported from Mexico in the CBU (completely built unit) format, he said.

The company had 150 confirmed bookings for the New Beetle and its deliveries would start from Saturday, he said.

The New Beetle is equipped with a 2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Volkswagen has also launched its Touareg, the sports utility vehicle, which was earlier available only on order.

Now it would be stocked in India and hence, readily available, Mr. Garg said, adding that its deliveries would also start from Saturday.

The Touareg was priced at Rs. 51.85-lakh ex-showroom Delhi, he said.
