VL Telecomm offers eight handsets

Mobile handset-maker MVL Telecom on Wednesday entered the mobile phone market by launching its new range of handsets, which includes a ‘push mail' mobile. The company also announced plans to invest Rs. 80 crore for setting set up R&D centres in India and China to meet the needs of the domestic market.

Priced between Rs.1,400 and Rs. 5,000, the eight handsets come with latest multimedia features. “We have not only introduced quality products, but have also priced it competitively. We are the first Indian vendor to enable mobile handset with push mail service,” MVL Telecom Chairman Prem Adip Rishi said at a press conference here. “We are sourcing our products from China, but we have plans to set up a manufacturing facility at Haryana by 2011-end that will produce over 2-crore handsets annually. We also plan to launch 3G handsets by the end of this year. Besides expanding our sales network, we will open a pan-India network of service centres,” Mr. Rishi added.
