Tata Motors global sales grow by 46 p.c. in June

Tata Motors on Thursday said its global sales increased by 46 per cent in June to 91,608 units on robust demand from both commercial and passenger vehicles.

Sales of luxury brands from Jaguar Land Rover were at 20,189 units during June, up 47 per cent from the same period last year, the company said in a statement.

While sales of luxury sedans of Jaguar brand jumped by 59 per cent last month at 6,776 units, Land Rover sales were higher by 41 per cent at 13,413 units, it added.

It said total passenger vehicles sales stood at 51,633 units in June 2010, a growth of 53 per cent from the corresponding month last year.

Commercial vehicles sales were also up by 38 per cent to 39,975 units from the same month last year, it added.

The Tata Motors Group global sales comprises Tata, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles along with the distributed brands in India, and Jaguar and Land Rover.

During the April-June quarter, total vehicle sales rose by 50 per cent at 2,49,322 units.

While total passenger car sales increased by 58 per cent at 1,38,024 units, commercial vehicle sales jumped 41 per cent at 1,11,298 units in the first quarter of this fiscal.
