Tata Motors closes Jamshedpur CV plant for 3 days

Tata Motors has closed its Jamshedpur commercial vehicle (CV) manufacturing plant for three days from November 29 to December 1. Earlier this month, the company had closed the same plant from November 12 to 14 to align production with demand. According to a company spokesman, “the market is now dynamic, and the plant closure is because we are proactively aggressive in aligning production with the demand in the market.’’

First plant

The Jamshedpur plant is the company’s first plant and makes trucks, engines and cabs as well ascowl. The truck factory has two assembly lines while the engine factory makes the Tata 697/497 naturally aspirated and turbo charged engines as also the 6B series engines made by Tata Cummins.

The company’s medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales fell 28 per cent over the year-ago period to 12,120 units in October.
