Sudarshan Venu, son of Venu Srinivasan, Managing Director of Sundaram-Clayton Limited (SCL) and Chairman of TVS Motor Company Limited (TVSM), has joined the board of SCL. He has been inducted as an Additional Director, says a release.

In March 2009, SCL inducted Lakshmi, daughter of Mr. Venu Srinivasan, as an Additional Director.

Krishna Mahesh returns to SBL

The announcement of Mr. Sudarshan Venu's joining the SCL board comes even as his 36-year-old cousin Krishna Mahesh returns to Sundaram Brake Linings (SBL) as its Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Krishna Mahesh is the only son of K. Mahesh, Chairman and Managing Director of SBL.

These appointments have set off more than cursory interest in corporate circles. Their induction, sources say, signifies a visible change that is sweeping the TVS Group, which is now slowly witnessing a generational shift.

Mr. Sudarshan Venu is a graduate with Honors at the Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology at the University of Pennsylvania, U.S. He also obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the School of Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Economics, both from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Krishna Mahesh joined SBL in July 2005 as Executive Director. He had a distinguished academic background having acquired MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. He worked in McKinsey & Co between in 1998 and 2001. He had intensive training at Toyota Motor from 2001 to 2003.
