South Indian Bank, which opened 27 new branches across India, 15 of them in and around twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on Monday, has set a target to achieve a business turnover of Rs.1-lakh crore by 2014.
After Andhra Pradesh Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan electronically inaugurated 15 branches of the bank, V. A. Joseph, Managing Director and CEO, said that with this the bank's network strength went up to 674.
Chairman Amitabha Guha said opening 15 branches on a single day in twin cities, 11 of them in unbanked areas of Ranga Reddy and remaining four in Hyderabad, was a great leap for financial inclusion.
Earlier the Governor said that banking services should reach more rural areas as India lived in villages.
