Sony Ericsson on Thursday launched two new smartphones — Xperia Arc and Xperia Play — priced at Rs.32,000 and Rs.35,000, respectively. Both the smartphones come with excellent multimedia capabilities along with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform and camera technologies of Sony.

Based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor, Xperia Arc is equipped with 10.6-cm touch screen, expandable memory up to 32GB and 8.1MP camera. Xperia Play, which allows users to play PlayStation suite games on the handset, is equipped with four-inch screen and a 5.1MP camera.

“The Android-based handsets are designed to provide the best multimedia experience to consumers. As social and digital media continues to change consumer experiences, our portfolio will complement this phenomenon, and take communication entertainment to the next level,” Sony Ericsson Country Head-India Pawan Chadha told journalists here. “We are all geared up to capture the huge potential that the smartphone market offers in India,” Mr. Chadha added.
