Shree Cement pays Rs. 8 dividend

Shree Cement has announced a final dividend of Rs. 8 per share, making with the interim a total of Rs. 13 per share for the year ended March 31, 2010 against Rs. 10 per share for 2008-09. The company has achieved a net profit of Rs. 676.10 crore against Rs. 577.97 crore.

The turnover has risen to Rs. 3,632.12 crore from Rs. 2,710.63 crore. For the quarter ended March 31, 2010, the company suffered a net loss of Rs. 71.37 crore against a profit of Rs. 235.64 crore.

During the year, the company expanded both its cement and power generating capacity. It commissioned two grinding units of 1.2 million tonne at Suratgarh in Rajasthan and 1.8 million tonne at Laksar in Uttarkhand. On the power business side, the company commissioned 46 MW green power plants and also implemented first unit of 50 MW of its proposed 100 MW (2 x 50 MW) thermal power plants. This has taken the total power generation capacity to 210 MW.
