Auto component maker Schaeffler Group on Thursday said it plans to set up a research and development centre for its Indian operations.

The Group, through its three brands ‘LUK’, ‘INA’ and ’FAG’, sells ball bearings, clutch systems and engine and transmission components in India.

“We will set up a R&D centre for our Indian operations,” Scheaeffler Group CEO Asia Pacific Anil Shah told reporters here at the 10th Auto Expo.

He, however, declined to give the location or the investment planned for the centre.

The Group supplies parts to Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Suzuki and Ashok Leyland among other auto companies.
