In another step towards fulfilling its ‘Make life simple’ promise, SBI Cards, on Tuesday, announced the launch of Click2Card, an all-new online application service, aimed at netting about 3,000 customers in the next four months.
“Click2Card is another innovative service offering and is in line with our digital roadmap. This new platform will offer significant customer benefits, the primary being convenience,” SBI Cards & Payment Services CEO Kadambi Narahari said here.

Already the country’s second largest credit card issuer with 23 lakh cardholders, the company promoted by State Bank of India (SBI) and GE Capital, has drawn up plans to open 25,000 accounts next year through the online mode. Mr. Narahari said that while SBI Cards opened four lakh accounts last fiscal through distribution channels, it had plans to add 5.6 lakh accounts during the current financial year. Click2Card, Mr. Narahari said, was targeted at the net-savvy customers across the country in view of the increasing trend of transactions on the Internet as it allowed customers to enter their details on a specially designed secure web interface.
The customer’s application for a card is approved, declined or referred on the basis of the credit history with the credit bureau and the SBI Card risk and policy norms. The customer has a real-time experience, and is updated on the status of his/her request instantly. For all approved or referred applications, the system sends back a ‘soft’ approval and the assigned credit limit.
Subsequently, the customer is contacted by representatives of SBI Cards for completion of the documentation requirement. The documents and information provided on the online platform need to match with those provided to the representative. The collected documents are then sent for verification and underwriting and, upon final approval, the credit card is issued to the customer.
