Samsung Electronics, on Thursday, unveiled the upgraded version of its phablet, Galaxy Note II, incorporating new features.
Galaxy Note II, powered by the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, is loaded with the latest hardware technologies, 1.6 GHz quad-core processor. Priced at Rs.39,900, the upgraded smartphone-tablet hybrid sports a 5.5-inch Amoled HD display with 2GB RAM, and internal storage of 16 GB expandable up to 64 GB.
The new version would initially be available across Samsung smartcafes and stores within a week.
Samsung also unveiled its next generation camera, branded under the Galaxy series.
Next generation camera
The new camera, with capacity to access 6,000 applications, is charged by the Android 4.1 platform, and it had 21X zoom, with Wi-Fi capabilities, along with SIM portability.
The pricing of the camera, slated for launch before Diwali, was yet to be fixed, Samsung Electronics President and CEO of South Asian operations B. D. Park said at the launch function here. “It is a melting pot, combining capabilities of the smartphone and imaging capabilities,” he said.
Samsung India Vice-President Asim Warsi claimed that the new smartphone, equipped with a stylus S Pen, had several industry first capabilities, including the Air View, allowing users to hover the Stylus over email, S planner, image gallery and video purview. S Pen’s advanced features facilitate capturing of ideas combining handwriting with digital content on the screen. He replied in the affirmative when asked whether the company would opt for bringing out new “phablet” once Microsoft officially launched its Windows 8 operating system.
