U.K.-based Rolls-Royce Motor Cars on Friday previewed its new four-door super-luxury saloon ‘Ghost’ here. Priced at Rs. 2.50 crore, ‘Ghost’ is the first in a new Rolls-Royce model series, separate from the Phantom family that comes with 6.6 L twin-turbo charged V12 engine and a new 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The engine delivers peak power output of 563 bhp helping ‘Ghost’ to reach 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. The new drive train significantly improves Rolls-Royce Motor Cars class helping reduced emissions and better fuel efficiency.

Addressing a press conference here, Roll Royce Regional Director Asia Pacific Colin Kelly said: “we expect to sell 75 units in 2010 in India, of which ‘Ghost’ will comprise 50-60 units. The first delivery of the car will happen in mid-2010.” Last year, Rolls-Royce had sold about 15 units of the ‘Phantom’ family in India.

Rolls-Royce General Manager for South and East Asia Pacific Brenda Pek said: “‘Ghost’ has appealed to a broader set of Indian buyers, which has further strengthened the high demand that we are experiencing around the region despite the current economic climate.” India was a key market for the company. Last year, the company added its second dealership in Delhi and if demand increased it would be expanded, Ms. Pek added. Rolls-Royce has already received 25 bookings for ‘Ghost’.
