RINL's thrust on value addition

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd. (RINL), the flagship company of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), is on a hat-trick of having recorded a sales turnover of over Rs. 10,000 crore for the third consecutive year. Despite lower market net sales realisations, sales turnover for 2009-10 are about Rs. 10,611 crore, the best ever sales since inception.

Salable steel sales are 3.13 million tonnes as compared to 2.62 million tonnes in 2008-09, a growth of 20 per cent. The thrust on value added steel continued to play a significant role in sales realisation. Value added steel production of 2.4 million tonnes and sales of these products at 2.35 million tonnes are the best for any year since inception. RINL is expanding capacity to 6.3 million tonnes.
