Reliance Communications (RCom) has bagged mGovernance infrastructure development contracts in Kerala, Maharashtra and Mumbai circles to offer cost-effective and efficient round-the-clock integration of mobile technology to seamlessly link various government departments to generate information systems.
The mGovernance infrastructure will enable real-time information update on civil services, including police, power, transport, health, water, land record, and other civic bodies. It will provide exam results, commodity prices, blood bank services, travel and tourism information, weather updates and other useful information.
The entire infrastructure will power different government departments to use this infrastructure to communicate with the public.
According to industry estimates, the mGovernance projects could generate over Rs.20-crore daily transactions and generate annual revenue worth over Rs.900 crore. An RCom spokesperson said the company was in discussion for mGovernance infrastructure contracts for Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Karnataka. In the next five years, RCom expected major revenue impact on its overall financials from mGovernance project implementation, he said.
