PSR Group will open a new eight-storeyed outlet on 100 feet Road here on Friday (September 30).

Financial Advisor to the group B.V. Eswaran told presspersons here on Thursday that it already had retail showrooms in Coimbatore, Mysore, Mangalore, Erode and Puducherry. The focus so far was on women's wear and the new one would be a family showroom.

R. Parameshwaran, Project Co-ordinator for the group, said the new showroom had one lakh sq.ft. built-up area with two floors for car parking. The silk section would have Ikat, Kancheepuram, Hyderabad and Patola sarees. The cotton section would have sarees from Kancheepuram, Venkitagiri and Gadwal. The group had invested Rs. 100 crore in the new outlet. The group had over 1,000 handloom weavers supplying to it directly. It wanted to encourage more weavers in Kancheepuram, Dharmavaram and Arani. The focus would also be on catering to the youth segment. The new showroom would soon have menswear too.

P.S. Rangasamy, Director of the Group, said he proposed to weave sarees from muga silk.

The price of muga silk, which was produced in Assam, was between Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 10,000 a kg. The group would procure these to be woven into sarees and other products. It also had fabrics made of eri silk.

R. Jagadeesh, Director of the group, said it would launch 10 designs (traditional and trendy) on Friday for the festival season.
