Looking at places such as Madurai, Salem, Vijayawada
Pantaloon Retail plans to double the total number of stores it has across the country in three years.
Its Chief Operating Officer Pankaj Tibrewal told presspersons here on Friday, after opening a 43,911 sq.ft. Pantaloon store at Brookefields Plaza here, that currently the company had 57 Pantaloon outlets across the country. This would be increased to 60 by the end of June this year.
Nitesh Gawri, Business Manager – South of Pantaloon Retail, said the store opened here on Friday was the 12th in the South and this was the biggest store for Pantaloon in this zone.
Mr. Tibrewal said South was an important market for the company and it planned to expand more in the Southern States. Currently, 20 per cent of the sales came from the Southern markets.
Now, the company was registering an overall 35 per cent growth. Pantaloon stores would be opened in Kochi, Mysore, and Vishakhapatnam soon. It was also looking at places such as Madurai, Salem and Vijayawada.
The company had about 2,000 vendors and the South was one of the important bases for the company for vendors too.
The prices of its ready made garments would be increased by 15 to 18 per cent from August because of the excise duty and increase in input costs.
However, this was not likely to affect sales.
