Orissa govt to study report on Posco

Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said his government will study the report on South Korea’s USD 12—billion Posco steel plant before making any comment.

“We will respond to the report only after going through it,” he told reporters here.

His comment came a day after a key government panel, headed by former Tribal Affairs Secretary Meena Gupta, submitted two different reports on the Posco proposals to Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh in Delhi.

The majority view in the four—member panel was that the environmental clearances to the Posco steel plant and a captive port be scrapped forthwith while the leader of the team felt otherwise.
