Oracle Corp has hired Mark Hurd, the former chief Executive of technology giant Hewlett- Packard’s (HP), as the President of the company, it said on Tuesday.

Mr. Hurd, who had quit HP in the wake of allegations of sexual harassment last month, will report to Oracle CEO Larry Ellison in his new role.

Besides, Mr. Hurd has also been selected as a director on the company’s board, the software firm Oracle said in a statement.

“Mark did a brilliant job at HP and I expect he’ll do even better at Oracle. There is no executive in the IT world with more relevant experience than Mark. Mark pioneered the integration of hardware with software when Teradata was a part of NCR,” said Oracle CEO Larry Ellison.

With Mr. Hurd’s wide experience in the technology business, HP became one of the biggest personal computers makers and server systems and the largest technology company by revenue.

Oracle, which has a significant presence in India, employs more than 25,000 employees in the country.
