Numeric Power Systems, a leader in uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems, is venturing into the green energy segment by making a foray into solar power, wind energy generation and LED (light emitting diode) lighting.
Addressing presspersons here on Friday, R. Chellappan, Managing Director, said the company had already floated a fully-owned subsidiary, Numeric Solar Energy Pvt. Ltd., for this purpose. The objective was to offer specialised and standard solar product range combined with energy-efficient LED lighting solutions, Mr. Chellappan said.
The company, which has completed 25 years of its operations, is planning to set up one megawatt solar project in Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), where it has a 1.5 MW windmill farm. The outlay on this project is Rs. 25 crore. Besides, the company would be investing in LED lighting systems. Mr. Chellappan said Numeric would be buying solar cells from Japan and Germany and configure panel modules and assemble them. "We are also toying with the idea of making a foray into the precision air-conditioning space with a strategic partner", he said.
The company has teamed up with HCL to power Pan-African e-networking project for linking hospitals and educational institutions in the continent with their counterparts in India.
