Nokia introduces new smartphone

It will enable access to web TV services, and social networking sites such as facebook and twitter

Nokia on Wednesday launched its latest smartphone, Nokia N8, with OVI services (Ovi Suite is the software from Nokia that enables synchronisation of smartphone with personal computers).

Addressing presspersons here, T. S. Sridhar, Regional General Manager (South), said Nokia N8 was the first of a series of devices powered by Symbian 3, the latest edition of the world's most used smartphone software.

The Ovi Suite would provide easy access to thousands of applications, Mr. Sridhar said.

N8, with 12 megapixels camera, would enable users to take highest quality photos and shoot HD-quality videos. The smartphone could be plugged into home theatre system to enjoy the high quality video with dolby digital pus surround sound.

It also would enable access to web TV services, and social networking sites such as facebook and twitter, Mr. Sridhar said.

The smartphone is available across the country from Wednesday and the maximum retail price is fixed at Rs.26,259.
