New version of Ambassador to be ready by January

Hindustan Motors expects to ready by early January, the new variant of its signature vehicle, the Ambassador, Managing Director Manoj Jha said.

He also said that if customer feedback was strong, then the company was also open to looking at a hatch-back model.

The company launched two variants of the sub-3 tonner light commercial vehicle, Winner XD Plus, at the Auto Show East which began here on Friday.

The show was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Jha said the company would be introducing several new variants in both passenger and commercial vehicle segments in the next 12-15 months starting from the first quarter of 2011.

The variants launched on Friday were diesel and CNG-based.

The other participants in the auto show included General Motors India, Honda Motors, Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, TVS, Mahindra and Fiat.
