Sony on Tuesday introduced 22 new digital cameras and announced plans to bring 3D cameras to the Indian market soon.
Equipped with innovative features and innovations, the new range of cameras are priced between Rs. 12,999 and Rs. 29,999.
Addressing a press conference here, Sony India Managing Director Masaru Tamagawa said the company was eyeing a significant increase in its market share next fiscal. "We hope to double our sales volume of our compact digital camera to 8-lakh units in 2010-11, which has been our focus," he said. Sony India sold around 4-lakh digital cameras in the last fiscal and hopes to clock 5.5-lakh unit sales in the current fiscal. The company at present enjoys 42 per cent market share in the compact camera segment.
Stating that the company would continue to add new products to its portfolio to consolidate its position in the fast-growing camera market in India, Mr. Tamagawa said Sony would also bring in 3D cameras this year that could take three dimensional photographs and videos.
